“Search [Check] me, O God, and know my heart! Try me and know my thoughts! And see if there be any grievous way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting!”
– Psalm 139:23-24 ESV
The Lord knows our words even before we speak them. He is intimately acquainted with the innermost parts of our hearts, yet He yearns for us to be so open, so transparent before Him that we invite Him to search us–to check us. David was giving the Lord permission to come into his heart so that the Lord could have communion with him. David was hungry for intimacy; he knew he was no saint. We too should invite God to come in and search us so that He could reveal to us how much we need Him. This is how we, His lifelong disciples, live a life of dependency before God. He’s knocking on the door; will you let Him in?
