DAY TEN

“Search [Check] me, O God, and know my heart! Try me and know my thoughts! And see if there be any grievous way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting!”
– Psalm 139:23-24 ESV

Seeing posters with the inspirational quote: “Follow your heart,” should make us cringe as Christians. The Bible says that the heart is deceitful above all things. This is the human condition: that our emotions can deceive us and our desires can trick us into justifying our actions. This danger with our hearts is exactly why we so desperately need the Lord to search our hearts. He needs to be Lord over our emotions and Lord over our desires. Many people have been led astray in the wrong relationship because they “followed their heart.” Make a conscious choice today to let God be Lord of your innermost thoughts, emotions, and desires. Allow your heart to be illuminated by the Lord’s truth. You shall know the truth and that truth will set you free. Time for a heart check.
