Pioneers Internship Program

Pioneers is a missions organization located in Lake Nona, and we are recruiting interns for our summer 2025 program (https://pioneers.org/internships). This 10-week program will provide interns the opportunity to serve in grant writing, global engagement, and hospitality. 

For 45 years, Pioneers has partnered with churches around the world to initiate church planting movements among unreached people groups. With Innovation and Flexibility as some of our core values, we are one of the fastest-growing missions organizations in the US, sending missionaries from 16 bases located across the globe. Grant Writing Intern
Our Grant Writing Intern works directly with the Global Projects Coordinator on the Advancement Team. This intern has the best of both worlds where half of it is writing, and the other half is working with missionaries and our Major Gifts Officers to build relationships with foundations and donors. If you love writing and connecting with people, then this is the role for you! 

*Applicants will be asked to upload 2-3 writing samples in your application. These could be papers you’ve written for a class, online articles, short stories, etc. 

Responsibilities
– Research new foundations
 
– Connect with missionaries about projects on the field and create project descriptions
 
– Collaborate with our Major Gifts Officers to develop relationships with new foundations and donors
 
– Write letters of inquiry, proposals, program logic models and other essential writing pieces

Global Engagement Intern
Our Global Engagement Intern works directly with the Director of Field Mobilization on the Mobilization Team. Our intern will develop a key component of our missionary recruitment pipeline by equipping field teams to recruit new missionaries for their teams. This includes connecting virtually with missionary teams and other Pioneers mobilization gateways to facilitate interviews, gathering information about missionary team needs, writing various communication pieces and creating and implementing the strategies needed to develop this essential part of the pipeline. If you love writing, connecting with people, and developing an organizational system, then this is the role for you!

Responsibilities
– Interview current missionary teams about their needs and projects and strategize how to present these opportunities to the greater Pioneers community

– Create resources and communication pieces that will equip current missionary teams to share on the database for missionary candidates who are considering teams to join

– Connect with Pioneers’ other mobilization gateways and train members to effectively use our database as a knowledge management platform and as a mobilization tool
– Assist the Mobilization Team with various summer events that exist to coach, equip and mobilize the next generation of missionaries

– Complete administrative tasks assigned by the Director of Field Mobilization

Hospitality Intern
Our Hospitality Intern works directly with the Hospitality Services Director on the Hospitality Team. This is a fast-paced and versatile position where our intern will assist and execute event logistics that serve Pioneers missionaries who are visiting the Orlando base, along with understanding the sale, communication and execution of hosting external events at Pioneers. Whether you are setting up for the day of an event or creating feedback assessments so our team can make future improvements, this position dives into all the nitty gritty details of how to serve others through the best practices of hospitality. If you have a passion for event planning, an intrapreneurial spirit and strive to go above and beyond to exceed customer expectations, then this is the role for you!

Responsibilities 

– Collaborate with multiple Pioneers teams to plan detailed logistics, track projects in our event management software system and execute events for Pioneers teams, missionaries on home assignment and outside third parties who utilize our space.
– Develop feedback assessments to measure event success and customer satisfaction

– Create analytics on space utilization and evaluate our social media outlets & marketing efforts to increase the exposure of renting our conference center spaces

– Participate in bi-weekly Hospitality Team and 1:1 meetings

– Assist the Hospitality Team in all hospitality aspects (i.e. event management, sales, digital signage, accommodations, culinary services, housekeeping, etc.). This includes evaluating and contributing solutions to our culinary services, accommodations and housekeeping processes.

– You Love to Learn: Teachable, wanting to grow professionally and personally and not afraid to ask questions.

*As with many hospitality events, there may be days where our intern could help with lifting or moving objects during set up. Our intern must be able to occasionally stoop, bend, kneel, crouch, reach and twist; to lift, carry, push, and/or pull light to moderate amounts of weight and lift up to 25lbs shoulder high.
