Job Description
To provide thorough, timely copyedits for all book and Bible projects as assigned. Complete all stages on assigned copyedits, including copyedit and proofing.

IMMEDIATE SUPERVISOR: VP of Content Development

Coordinates with editors on transmittal of manuscripts as assigned.
Copyedits products as assigned. Copyedit includes correcting syntax, spelling, grammar, punctuation, fact-checking, and creating and completing endnotes as needed.
Queries unclear or non-credible passages from manuscripts to appropriate editor.
Receives first pages from production and forwards to author for corrections/changes—with deadlines for manuscript return from author.
Reviews proposed manuscript corrections, changes, and queries with appropriate editor.
Arranges the input of changes approved into the electronic manuscript file.
Arranges final proofing of assigned projects as scheduled.
Provides quality control for legal and doctrinal issues, content consistency, and accuracy.
Performs reviews of manuscripts for e-books and communicates changes needed to Book Production.
Agrees with Charisma Media’s vision statement, beliefs, and values.
Abides by all policies and procedures of Charisma Media.

BACKUP TO THIS POSITION: Sr. Copy Editor or Associate Editor

Required: bachelor’s degree in English, journalism, communications, or related area of study; at least three years experience in the editing process of books; familiarity with the Chicago Manual of Style
Preferred: familiarity with charismatic/Pentecostal markets

Excellent planning and communications skills, ability to handle numerous projects at one time, accurate and efficient, detail-oriented, excellent grammar skills, ability to take direction, good eye for consistency in layout, ability to type 50 words per minute, proficient in Word, Excel, PC operations, and Internet, some knowledge of InDesign and MAC operations desirable

Additional Information
Location: On site from our Corporate office, located at 600 Rinehart Road, Lake Mary, Florida.
The first 90 days will be in the office, Monday – Friday from 8:30 am to 5:30 pm. After completion of 90 days select employees may work from home on Wednesdays. No weekends are ever required, and we have eight paid holidays throughout the year.
Compensation: $40,000 – 45,000/year

Work Environment
The work environment is a normal office setting. Although fast paced, it is pleasant environment, which includes cordial relationships. Interview Process
If your resume is selected for consideration, you will be contact by our Staffing Coordinator by email and will be asked to complete a Candidate Questionnaire followed by a telephone interview. If you are selected further, you will be invited for an in-person meeting at our corporate office for skills testing and an interview with our Office Manager. Skills testing will include the following: Basic proofreading and spelling, Personality Profile, and typing test.

The final interview will be conducted by the hiring manager. If you are chosen to fill the position, you will be contacted by the Staffing Coordinator with final job details and onboarding information.
