SUMMARY
The International Ministries Candidate Specialist will help fulfill the mission and vision of Converge International Ministries by helping to discover and effectively engage qualified missionary candidates through a strategic process of recruitment. In accordance with our mission to help people meet, know, and follow Jesus by starting and strengthening churches together worldwide, this person must believe in our vision, live a life modeling a vibrant walk with Christ and hold to our Affirmation of Faith.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
• Participate on a team, which cultivates relationship with partner Christian colleges/universities and organizations. This includes but is not limited to college visits and events.
• Facilitate an effective pre-assessment processes so a higher percentage of Missionary Discovery & Assessment attendees are approved for missionary service.
• Assess the potential applicant for alignment with Converge International Ministries vision and organizational values.
• Make the potential applicant as “invited”, “pending”, or “declined”. Add notes of why the person was declined, mark as pending or invited to complete an application to the Missionary Discovery & Assessment.
• Cultivate potential applicant pool by following-up with all potential applicants marked as “pending” in the on-line application portal a minimum of quarterly until the potential applicant is either declined or invited to submit an application.
• Read all MD&A applications and references thoroughly, noting any areas of concern. Touch basis with applicants or reference persons to clarify any details of the application of reference.
• Create a brief for the Director of Mobilization for each applicant to include recommendation for invite to the Missionary Discovery & Assessment or the reason to not recommend.
• Maintain timely and complete documentation for all potential applicants and applicants in the on-line MD&A application portal to include, email correspondences, notes from all meetings, phone calls, texts, etc.
• Connect the potential applicant to the Director of Mobilization only in the case when a potential applicant has not been recruited by one of our global workers and is unsure about the area of the world, they want to serve in.
• Coordinate communications, responding to emails and interfacing with internal and external clients.
• Work in collaboration with all IM team members, and with all Converge staff at-large as needed.
QUALIFICATIONS
• Computer proficiency and technical aptitude with the ability to use Microsoft products.
• Proven ability to work effectively in a team environment.
• Ability to work independently and possess initiative when carrying through assignments.
• Strong organizational, project management and problem-solving skills with multi-tasking abilities.
• Experience researching and analyzing information from a variety of sources.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and/or sensitive business information skills.
Supervisory Responsibilities
Responsibilities may involve building a team of volunteers, including: interviewing, training, directing outcomes and objectives, collaborative planning, and evaluation/reward of the volunteers.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) from a four-year college or university is preferred; or six or more years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Has a high efficiency in the English language, including the ability to write with a professional level of grammar. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Demonstrates great ability with communication including diplomacy and discernment. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

The office environment is very collaborative with the expectation of cross-department meetings. The work environment is a mix of offices with doors, cubicles, and meeting spaces. The noise level is moderate. The noise level in the work environment is usually minimal to moderate.
